Lee Switzer, Tauranga-based creative has submitted the poems and accompanying images for ARTbop readers.
You may have read Lee’s short stories and seen his supporting photography in the ARTbop archives. For many years now, Lee has also been an archival photographer in and around Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty – the details of his contributions to the Tauranga Library Kete are below.
There are more poems to follow the two below; so perhaps we could say these are the first in a series of poems by Lee Switzer.
The Night Knight
Watch for the night
Watch out for the Knight
See light in dark
See saber in sheath
A torch for each
Keep within reach.
Here is the second poem from Lee….
Tiller
Your arm at night is
Like a soft handle
With warm assurance
Entwined by degree.
I moved my leg
Against your hip,
And you turned over
In sleep decree; gardening.
