COMMEMORATIONS OF BATTLES OF GATE PA AND TE RANGA

29 April 2014 is the 150th anniversary of a battle in the local territorial and land wars fundamental to the development of present day Tauranga. 21 June 2014 – is the anniversary of the subsequent battle at Te Ranga. The Battles at Pukehinahina (Gate Pa) and Te Ranga remain significant events for the entire community and a number of cultural events in conjunction with the commemorations are taking place now and in the coming months.
